CompTIA's Security+ certification was developed in response to both corporate and government requests for a certification that validates foundation-level IT security skills. The exam covers industry-wide topics including communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, access control, authentication, external attack and operational and organization security. CompTIA Security+ is an elective or prerequisite to advanced vendor specific and vendor neutral security certifications.
CompTIA recommend that the Security+ exam candidate already hold a CompTIA Network+ or equivalent certification, and have 2 years experience working in a security related role, although these aren’t prerequisites to taking this exam.
As with all CompTIA certifications, once a candidate has achieved the Security+ certification, the certification will not expire. Exam Requirements: To achieve the Security+ certification, candidates are required to pass the following exam:
SY0-101 Security+
The Security+ exam consists of 100 questions to be completed in 90 minutes. The minimum passing score is 764, graded on a scale of 100 - 900. Test results are displayed as soon as you complete the exam.
