The Linux Professional Institute LPIC level 2 certification is a mid-level certification for IT professionals who want to show an intermediate level of “vendor independent and distribution neutral” knowledge of Linux.
There are three levels to the LPIC program. The LPIC Level 1 certification is a prerequisite to the LPIC Level 2 certification.
To pass level two, a LPIC Level 2 candidate should be able to: - Administer a small to medium-sized site
- Plan, implement, maintain, keep consistent, secure, and troubleshoot a small mixed (MS, Linux) network, including a:
- LAN server (samba)
- Internet Gateway (firewall, proxy, mail, news)
- Internet Server (webserver, FTP server)
- Supervise assistants
- Advise management on automation and purchases
In terms of recertification, this is what the LPI says: “We made the decision then that we would not expire the certifications. We do recommend that our alumni consider voluntarily recertifying every few years as technology changes but we do not require it.” Exam Requirements: To achieve the LPIC level 2, a candidate must pass the following two exams:
201: LPI 201 202: LPI 202
