The CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator) is an entry-level, vendor-neutral certification is for “IT professionals who are new to wireless networking but who want to come up to speed quickly, as well as for those IT professionals already familiar with wireless LANs and who want to fill in any gaps in their knowledge, and prove their expertise to help their competitive edge.”
The CWNA certification will certify that successful candidates know the fundamentals of RF behaviour, can describe the features and functions of wireless LAN components, and have the skills needed to install, configure, and troubleshoot wireless LAN hardware peripherals and protocols. A typical candidate should have Network+, CCNA, CNA, or MCP certification or equivalent knowledge, although these certifications are not required for CWNA certification.
In terms of CWNA recertification, essentially candidates may either: 1) “recertify by passing the latest version of their current level of CWNP certification within 24 months of the initial date of the latest level of certification earned”; or 2) “maintain a valid CWNP certification status by earning the next level of certification within the CWNP Program within 24 months of the initial date of the previous level of certification earned.” Exam Requirements: CWNA Candidates are required to pass the following exam to achieve the CWNA certification:
